Youth Shooting Teams to Recieve $5,000 Donation at NWTF Turkey Shoot

August 7, 2013

The National Wild Turkey Federation and the Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund, a not-for-profit organization established by Larry and Brenda Potterfield to help educate youth about shooting, hunting, firearms safety and outdoor skills, have expanded their partnership.

Through support of the Scholastic Shooting Trust, the NWTF will be offering $5,000 endowments to youth shooting teams that participate in the NWTF Turkey Shoot, Aug. 16-18 at The Meadows National Gun Club in Forsyth, Ga.   Additional endowments will be awarded for the top placing youth shooting teams, with first place being awarded an additional $5,000, second place receiving $3,500 and third place receiving $2,500.

Youth shooters also can sign up for the 200 target main event for just $50, a savings of $200. Not only will these programs increase the number of youth participating at the Turkey Shoot, but they also will increase the number of youth shooting teams with Scholastic Shooting Trust endowments to cover ongoing shooting costs.

Turkey Shoot participants compete for more than $100,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs and 100 guns. Registration is still open.

Turkey Shoot activities include:

  • 200 target sporting clays championship
  • 5-stand competition
  • 12 gauge, side by side and pump preliminaries
  • .410, 20 gauge and 28 gauge target shoots with 50 targets

All adult competitors in the hunter divisions will receive a case of target ammunition.
