How not to Mess up Your Exercise Routine while Camping

October 30, 2019

For people who actively work out, going away on a trip is a huge interruption in their daily routine. If they skip their training session for just a few days, it is immeasurable harder for them to get back into shape. However, there is one type of outing that allows people to exercise even on the road. A camping trip is an ideal opportunity to pick up where you left off the previous day because nature allows for plenty of chances to exercise in the most natural of ways.

Outdoor yoga

Wherever your lodging is, there’s bound to be a clear space like a meadow or even a disused parking lot. These are ideal for spreading out your yoga mat and meditate in nature. In fact, this is the most natural surrounding for practicing yoga from them all! Breathing exercises will feel much easier to perform in fresh oceanside or mountain air. In fact, don’t be surprised if your local yoga instructor takes the entire group to a park to practice this art surrounded by greenery.

An ideal opportunity for cross-fit training

A typical gym has a large variety of machines and weights but no gym is match for the open-door! There are so many natural paths and obstacles that you can find outside, making camping ideal for those who like cross-fit training. Whether it’s cycling, swimming or jogging through the woods involves, a camping trip is an ideal opportunity to improve your stamina and endurance. You don’t have to stick to the most typical exercises, as picking up a log and doing squats with it also counts as a training session and a good one too.

Tapping into children’s energy

Another way to stay fit on vacation is to spend as much time with your children as possible. Their refusal to go to bed and constant running up and down the house turn into huge advantages while camping. Essentially, they turn into tiny human energy generators that you can always count on to give you a good run-out. Bringing your children along for the forest excursion is the most certain way to know that you’ll burn calories. Whether its playing throws and catches with a Frisbee or cycling, the children will perform nothing in moderation.

Eat local food

Everyone who’s into physical exercise knows about the importance of dieting right. Coupled with plenty of sleep, the diet is what helps you grow your muscle mass and become stronger both physically and mentally. While camping, you’ll need a lot of proteins but what you don’t need are carbs. That’s why you shouldn’t try to stick to your original dietary plan but rather taste different food. Simply eat local food without worrying too much if are you taking in enough carbon-hydrates.

The secret to staying hydrated

It is a well-known fact that our body requires no less than 2 liters of water per day. This amount stays the same or even grows when we are on the road. If the camping trip takes place in summer, then we need even more water because we lose a lot of fluid through perspiration. The trick to staying hydrated while camping and thus being able to take the strain of outdoor physical activity is drinking water often. Bring a reusable water bottle and fill it up several times during the day; taking a sip every now and then, if you aren’t very thirsty. If the water bottle is reusable, this will ensure that you leave no plastic waste behind on the campsite.

Getting up early

Finally, if you plan on using the camping trip as an ideal exercise opportunity, then you need to get up early. Oversleeping or staying in bed longer than necessary will make you feel drowsy and unfit to exercise. If nothing else, get up with the break of dawn and take a stroll through the woods, breathing in the fresh air and listening to the twitter of birds.

If you take all of the steps listed above, it is highly unlikely that the upcoming camping trip will mess up your exercise routine. Quite the contrary, the great outdoors offers endless opportunities to try out new exercises.
