Camping is one of the most fun, budget-conscious, and interesting vacations you can have.  Whether you’re heading out with a few of your closest family and friends or braving it solo in the wilderness, there are a few essentials you’ll need to cram in for a successful, safe, and enjoyable trip. We’ve put together a list of items to keep to hand so read on to find out what you should be packing to make your break a success.

  1. A Generator

A generator will keep you charged up while you wind down. Unless you’re camping in a site with plenty of power points (powered plots can be super costly) you’ll need something to keep your phone battery alive, food cold and if you’re feeling extra, run your electric blanket on. Purchase a good quality generator that can be recharged with solar. The bluetti ep500 price may seem like a large investment but you can use it as a backup generator when you’re at home too, making it worth its weight in gold.

  1. First Aid Kit

Campers can sometimes be prone to injuries big and small as exploring the great outdoors comes with unsafe risks. Make sure you’re as prepared as possible by bringing along a fully stocked first aid kit to treat any cuts and bruises. Your kit should contain antiseptic spray, gloves, band-aids, bandages, scissors, and tweezers at the very least. And don’t forget your mosquito spray! If you’re running lights while you’re relaxing in the evening it’s likely you’ll be bitten to death by bugs without some powerful DEET keeping you safe.

  1. Warm Clothing

Even the desert gets cold at night! Pack a sweater or two, alongside some tracksuit pants to keep your legs warm as the evenings get cooler. If you’re camping in a colder or wetter part of the country then ensure you pack double the amount of warm clothes as you might end up damp and freezing which is not enjoyable for anyone!

  1. Creature Comforts

Let’s face it, camping ain’t comfy! However, pillows, sleeping bags, the aforementioned heated blanket, and all other camp furniture will help you stay cozy and warm during nighttime chilly spells. Pack an eye mask so that you don’t wake up as soon as the dawn breaks (unless you’re an early riser of course!) and pop in some earplugs to shield yourself from the constant sounds around you. Birdsong doesn’t sound so sweet if it’s waking you up at 4 am!

  1. Slip-On Shoes

Whether you’re camping on a site plot, in the wilderness, or even roadside, bring along some slip-on shoes like Crocs, sliders, or flip-flops that you can pop on at a moment’s notice. They might not be runway-ready but it means you won’t have to put on sneakers or boots when nature calls. Plus, they’ll keep your feet off the floor of any gross communal showers.
