SUNJACK PORTABLE SOLAR CHARGER

portable solar charger

Hello fellow outdoorsman today’s outdoor product review is for the Sunjack Portable Solar Charger. This handy piece of equipment is a portable solar panel that charges any USB device or the portable battery pack it comes with. The portable solar charger is an excellent device that you are going to want. It would come in handy for camping, hiking, emergency kits and everything else in the great outdoors. However, before I reveal the outdoor product review, I have to provide the product disclaimer. Boring!

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received Sunjack Portable Solar Charger for free from Gigawatt in consideration for a gear review.

I am glad that is out of the way. Aren’t you? Now, for the review. The Portable Solar Charger is not only portable, but is also very practical. The Sunjack Portable Solar Charger is smaller than the common 1 subject notebook that you purchase for school supplies. You can charge any USB device directly into the solar panel and in about 5 hours in direct sunlight your device will be charged. Or, if you prefer, charge the portable battery pack and then charge your USB devices with the battery. Heck, you can charge both the battery and USB device with the Portable Solar Charger at the same time.

The Portable Solar Charger package comes with a folded solar panel, portable battery pack, 2 USB cables and 2 carabineers. The battery, USB cables and carabineers are stored with the solar panel in a zippered pouch.

The zipper pouch helps to keep you from losing or misplacing the necessary equipment. The charging device is attached to the back of the solar panel. The Sunjack Portable Solar Charger is small enough to fit in a backpack or be stored in an emergency kit for your vehicle. It does have a little weight to it for its size but nothing uncomfortable. I should mention that the Portable Solar Charger is not waterproof, but is water resistant. I suggest you purchase the waterproof sleeve for it. You can find them HERE.

The battery pack is smaller than a cell phone. What impresses me the most about this battery pack is that it really holds its charge. I put the Portable Solar Charger in my deer blind with the battery fully charged for the entire 2 week Michigan Firearm Deer Season. I am proud to say that the battery pack held the full charge. We are talking about below freezing and single digit temperatures. Another great feature is the battery pack has the capability to charge up to 4 phones on a single charge. That is some descent power to have. There is even a small light on the battery pack. To activate the light, simply hold the button down for a few seconds. Granted, the light is not powerful but in a pinch it is better than nothing.

The Portable Solar Charger has 4 small solar panels that fold in and out.

The solar panels also have six solid web hoops to hang it facing the sun for charging. You can either hang it length way or width way. Simply use the 2 carabineers to hang it in the best direct sunlight you can. The zippered pouch on the back keeps everything secure while hanging. There is enough room in the pouch that you can place a cell phone inside and charge it while still charging the battery pack. What I have done is charge the battery pack on my computer first. Then I placed the battery pack back into the zippered pouch. This allows me to charge my device even when I do not have direct sunlight.
