Gloshade Industries Inc. Emergency Light Product Review

Article Written By: Tim Collins,
Emergency light

Today’s product review is from Gloshade Industries Inc. I received the privilege of testing the emergency light kit. Gloshade Industries Inc. claims the emergency light can be used as a flashlight, a safety cone or landing marker, a funnel and even as a hot pad. The emergency light from Gloshade Industries Inc. uses the illumination given from a glow stick as an alternative to a battery powered light.

The emergency light is made with:

1.) 1000 Denier Cordura outer shell.
2.) Energy Shield thermal reflective fabric lining.
3.) Anti light-leak cap.
4.) High quality metal D-rings.
5.) An adjustable nylon strap.
6.) Velcro glow stick fastener.

To test the emergency light from Gloshade Industries Inc., I parked my truck in the woods where I hunt in the dark of night so as not to have any other light around and gave it a go. Some of the photos are not much to look at, but they were taken as a demonstration of “real world” experiences that may happen. You can see what the naked eye sees in these emergency situations.

FLASHLIGHT:

As a flashlight, the emergency light is awkward to hold and use as a direct beam. I used it to walk down the two-rut road away from my truck and was only able to see about 2 to 3 feet in front of me. There was not enough available light to make out details, but it did keep me on my path without running into overhanging branches.

 Emergency light

As far as being able to perform emergency maintenance on the truck, I found I probably had enough light to change a flat tire. Performing anything under the hood is highly unlikely due to the lack of adequate light. As you can see from the photo, I held the light a mere 3 inches from my top radiator hose and could barely see it.

FLOODLIGHT/EMERGENCY LIGHT:

This is where the emergency light from Gloshade Industries Inc. really earns it keep. I hung the emergency light in a tree about 5 feet off the ground and was able to see an area about 3 feet in diameter all the way to the ground. I then walked down the two-rut road about 30 yards away and was able to see the light through the trees. Granted, it was only the glow stick I could see, but because of that, the use as a marker is great.

Emergency light

Speaking of using it as marker, you have the ability to turn the shade inside out and use it as a cone in vehicle emergencies. I also did this and placed the “cone” by my truck. As you can see from the photo, my test was done in complete darkness. It isn’t much to look at, but the photo clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the emergency light. You could not see the truck from 30 yards away, but the glow stick itself could be seen and the ability to make the shade into a cone allows for a greater view of the stick as opposed to having it lay on the ground.

 FUNNEL:
Emergency light

This is another great use for the emergency light kit from Gloshade Industries Inc. The design of the shade is a natural funnel and the material that it is made of enables you to pour any type of fluid through it. Because it isn’t a solid shade you will have to be careful, but in an emergency, it will work just fine.

HOT PAD:

I did not use it as a hot pad, this is because I am not allowed to bring in things I stick in the dirt, hand in trees, put on my truck engine and so on into the house to use at the stove. Bosses orders. I can attest that I used the shade to touch the radiator of my truck after driving out to the woods to determine the possibilities of its use as a hot pad. Based on that technique, I can say that it would work fine as a hot pad.

Overall, I would say that the emergency light from Gloshade Industries Inc. makes a great emergency tool to have in your vehicle, survival kit for hunting and fishing or for use while camping. Everyone already knows that in times of an emergency, that is not the time to be caught with, well, “your pants down”.

Just one use out of the emergency light from Gloshade Industries Inc. in those desperate times to successfully help you in your time of need will more than pay for itself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review and if you have any comments, suggestions or critiques, please feel free to contact me.
Have a great day,
Tim Collins.
